Trilogy Diamond Rings
A three stone ring, sometimes called a trilogy or trinity ring, sets a centre diamond between two smaller side stones. GIA describes the three as standing for a couple's past, present and future, and that idea is what draws a lot of people in.
Some couples skip the symbolism and just like the shape. Three stones sit wider across the finger than a single diamond, so even a modest centre has real presence.
We make three stone rings with GIA and IGI certified lab grown and natural diamonds, matching every stone for colour and clarity so the three read as one design.

Ask ten couples why they picked three stones and maybe half will say the symbolism.
Past on one side, present in the middle, future on the other. It's simple, and it sticks.
The other half just liked how it looked. Either way works.

Choosing Your Side Stones
This is where three stone rings get fun. It's also where they go wrong most often.
Make the sides too close in size to the centre and you end up with three stones in a row, no hierarchy. Too small and they look like an afterthought. We normally start with sides clearly smaller than the centre, then tweak by eye, on your actual hand.
Shape counts as much as size. Pears tucked next to an oval soften it. Trapezoids or baguettes beside an emerald cut look clean and geometric. Matching rounds? Classic.
Colour counts too. GIA's advice is to keep side stones within about two colour grades of the centre so nothing looks off.
Want to break the rules? Sapphire sides look great, and they're a nice way to add something personal.
These are the details we balance on every trilogy ring we design.

The side stones are there to frame the centre, not fight with it. Get that balance right and the grades matter a bit less.

Rounds, pears, trapezoids, baguettes. Curved shapes give the ring movement. Straight edges make it look sharper and more tailored.

A blue or pink centre works really well here. The white diamonds on each side calm it down so it doesn't feel like costume jewellery.

Three heads squeezed close together need a solid basket underneath, or cleaning becomes a chore and stones loosen faster.

Put three diamonds side by side and any colour difference jumps out. That's why we grade-match them before setting anything.

Go a touch wider on the band so the ring doesn't tip. Yellow gold, by the way, makes white diamonds look warmer and softer.

Mixing Diamond Types
A three stone ring gives you more room to play with budget than most styles.
Some couples choose a natural centre with lab grown side stones, putting the money where the eye goes first. Others go lab grown for all three and step up in size. Both are real diamonds graded on the same 4Cs, and without lab equipment they're very hard to tell apart.
Whichever way you go, the three stones need to match in colour and brightness. We set them side by side on a tray before anything is made so you can see it for yourself.
Here's how we put a three stone ring together.

Start with the main diamond. Its shape decides which side stones will suit it best.

We pair side stones for size, shape and colour, then lay them out so you can compare options.

Check the 3D model from every angle, sign off, and we make it in 14K, 18K or platinum.
Three stones give you meaning, more presence on the hand and plenty of room to make the design your own.
Past, present and future is an easy story to tell, and people do ask.
Two side stones spread the look across the finger without the cost of one much larger diamond.
Rounds with pears, emeralds with trapezoids, a coloured centre with white sides. Very few end up alike.
