Deposit Policy
A deposit secures your design time, materials and production capacity. This policy explains how much is required, when it becomes non-refundable, and how the balance is handled.

Custom Order Deposit
A deposit equal to 50% for natural diamonds or 20% for lab-grown diamonds of the total purchase price is required to begin a custom order, CAD design, diamond sourcing or manufacturing process.
Deposits Are Non-Refundable
The deposit becomes non-refundable once paid, because SMC Diamonds begins allocating design time, sourcing materials and reserving production capacity. The deposit is applied toward the total purchase price.
Balance and Release of Jewellery
The remaining balance, together with applicable taxes and approved additional charges, is due in full when the completed item is collected or before it is shipped. Jewellery will not be released or shipped until all outstanding amounts have been paid.
Changes After Approval
Before manufacturing begins, the client must review and approve the final written order details. Once written or electronic approval is given, any change, alteration, replacement or remanufacturing requested may result in additional charges and delays. A quotation will be provided before any additional chargeable work is completed.
Layaway Deposits
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a minimum initial payment of 20% is required to open an approved layaway plan of up to 12 months. All layaway payments are non-refundable. If the client cancels, refuses to complete the purchase, or fails to pay the full balance within the 12-month term, all amounts paid toward the layaway will be forfeited and no refund, exchange or store credit will be issued.
Loaner Ring Payments
Loaner ring services must be fully paid in advance and the client bears the cost. If a loaner ring is lost, SMC Diamonds has the right to recover the loss from the deposit or payment. Where the amount for the loaner ring exceeds the original order amount, the difference must be paid by cash, debit or e-transfer.

The non-refundable deposit policy remains subject to any cancellation or refund rights that cannot legally be excluded under British Columbia law.
