SMC Diamonds may offer an approved layaway plan allowing a client to reserve an eligible jewellery item for up to 12 months. The exact payment amounts, schedule and final deadline will be stated on the invoice or written layaway agreement. Please read this policy carefully before making your first payment.
Effective September 3, 2026
Once your layaway plan is approved and your initial payment is received, the jewellery is removed from available inventory and held for you until the balance is paid in full. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a minimum initial payment of 20% is required to begin.
All layaway payments are non-refundable. If the client cancels, refuses to complete the purchase or fails to pay the full balance within the 12-month period:
SMC Diamonds may send a final notice using the client's most recent contact information. Failure to receive a reminder or final notice does not extend the deadline. This forfeiture provision is subject to any consumer rights or judicial relief that cannot legally be excluded.
Any resizing, engraving, alteration or customization must be approved and may result in additional charges. If customization or alteration begins before full payment, the item becomes a custom order and remains final sale.
Once the balance, applicable taxes and any approved additional charges are paid in full, the jewellery may be collected or shipped. Jewellery will not be released or shipped until all outstanding amounts have been paid. Clients are responsible for inspecting their jewellery at collection or promptly after delivery, and any concern should be reported within 15 calendar days.

This policy is governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or overrides a cancellation right, refund right or other consumer remedy that cannot legally be waived.
